who we are

Living Room Productions is the umbrella name for an English language performance group based in Berlin and is an unsubsidized non-profit organization.
LRP Berlin started their creative work in 2000, producing contemporary plays by writers such as David Ives, Michael Frayn and Christopher Hampton. Various Berlin locations, eg. the now closed “Checkpoint Theater“, the “Ratibor“ in Kreuzberg and the “Teehaus“ in Tiergarten have housed the group on various occasions.
Since 2011, LRP has been active at Theaterforum Kreuzberg in Berlin, mainly promoting the work of new contemporary playwrights from all over the world.

how it all began

In 2000, after much sitting around in pubs after rehearsal, a group of actors and actresses decided to create their own company; a company that would combine the various abilities of the members and would focus itself on contemporary writers. The first enterprise was a short film version of “King Lear“, a challenge taken on by the artist Mike Halverson

LRP went on stage with a collage of short plays the same summer, performed at Ratibor Theatre/ Kreuzberg.
From then on, LRP has been pursuing a continuous stream of work with up to three productions a year, including playwrights like Michael Frayn, David Ives, John Guare, Christopher Hampton.
